The publication, Mapping Cultural Diversity – Good Practices from Around the Globe was launched at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris on 29 November 2010 on the occasion of  the Fourth Ordinary Session of the Intergovernmental Committee of the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and the Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (2005) (thereafter referred to as the UNESCO Convention 2005).

The electronic version of the publication is available for download here:

Mapping Cultural Diversity DUK-ASEF-2010

The publication is a collaborative endeavour of the Asia-Europe Foundation and the German Commission for UNESCO with contributions from the U40 Network for "Cultural Diversity 2030".

The idea of mapping good practices on cultural diversity through the publication is based on the observation that carefully documented case studies can not only provide inspiration for networking and collaboration but also aid planning and policy making.  Mapping Cultural Diversity presents 39 good practices drawn from different fields, which, their intrinsic functions apart, may be seen as contributing to the protection and promotion of diversity of cultural expressions. Creation, production, distribution/dissemination, access and enjoyment of cultural expressions, as conveyed by cultural activities, goods and services serve as the matrix. Projects initiated by governments as well as those set up by civil society actors are included. Innovative partnerships between the public and private sectors are highlighted.
