7th ASEMUS General Conference | India - Registration open!

gc2 The 7th General Conference of the Asia-Europe Museum Network (ASEMUS) will be hosted by the National Museum of India and held in New Delhi between 15 and 17 March 2017. The conference is supported by the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF). The Conference expects to gather approximately 150 museum professionals, including a large representation of the over 140 museums in 41 countries that currently make up ASEMUS, as well as many participants from India and other countries in Asia and Europe.

Registration

Online registration for the 7th ASEMUS General Conference is now open to regional state museums in India, ASEMUS members as well as any other interested museum professionals. The registration period for Indian museum professionals will remain open until 28 February 2017. Programme

Central themes of the 7th ASEMUS General Conference will include:
  • Digitisation and digital technologies in museums
  • Access to museums, including the role of technologies as well as accessibility for people with disabilities
  • The social role of museums and their place in the cultural life of cities and urban regeneration processes
  • The promotion of regional heritage in museums
The programme of the Conference will be structured as follows:
  • 2 half-day training workshops for young museum professionals from ASEMUS member museums will be held on Wednesday 15 March. The workshops will address specific, practical issues and challenges encountered by museum professionals in their day-to-day work.
  • 3 plenary sessions will take place on Thursday 16 March. Themes addressed in these sessions will include the showcasing and promotion of regional heritage; the role of technology in enabling access to museums; access to museums for people with disabilities; and the role of museums in urban regeneration and in the cultural life of cities.
  • Visits to cultural sites in and near New Delhi will be organised on Friday 17 March.
