The Cheongju International Craft Biennale, hosted by Cheongju City, South Korea is one of the largest events in the field of contemporary craft. It started in 1999, and it has grown steadily since then to become an internationally well-known and diverse event. In 2009, 290 000 visitors saw the exhibition, which boasted 3000 artists from 53 countries exhibiting their works. Earlier invited theme countries have been Canada in 2009 and Italy in 2007. Between Tradition and Future is a large exhibition of Finnish craft, applied art, design and culture. It includes a large display of experimental craft and contemporary design (2300 m2), educational events, folk music and dance performances. Works from 200 artists and designers will be exhibited. “Finland Day” will be on the 1st of October. Read more about the exhibition coordinator ORNAMO - the Finnish Association of Designers.
