The films are available in many countries, including: Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Italy, Lao PDR, China, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Spain, Thailand, United Kingdom, and Viet Nam.

In 2016, The Japan Foundation, as part of the JFF Asia-Pacific Gateway Initiative, established the Japanese Film Festival (JFF) with the aim to share Japanese cinema with 10 ASEAN countries and Australia. They expanded to China and India in 2017, and then to Russia in 2018. In 2023, JFF was held in 10 countries with more than 120,000 participants.
