The Korea Literature Translation Institute (LTI Korea) will select 15 local writers to support them with publishing their work overseas. 300 million won will be used to translate the selected writers' works and help them connect with literary agencies abroad.

This decision comes after the international success of the book "Please Look After Mom" by Kyung-Sook Shin, which was the recipient of the Man Asia Literary Prize this year. Korean novels have yet to be more widely translated in order to make Korean literature better known overseas.

Founded in 1996, LTI Korea runs a wide range of programs to help Korean literature reach more readers across the globe. It provides grants to translators and publishers, supports literature-related international exchange and training programmess for literary translators, and offers fellowships to scholars of Korean literature. Its doors are open to everyone interested in Korean literature and it welcomes participation and suggestions from all quarters.
