Join thousands of creative minds as they converge on Bali for the 14th Ubud Writers & Readers Festival to connect, learn and be inspired. The line up of 150+ authors, artists, thinkers and performers is announced, with a programme of over 200 events. The 14th Ubud Writers & Readers Festival will return to Bali’s cultural capital from 25–29 October, 2017, and will be explored through the lens of this year’s theme, ‘Origins’. Alongside literary luminaries already announced – including Ian RankinTim FlannerySeno Gumira AjidarmaPapermoon Puppet Theatre and Eko Supriyanto – we are pleased to be welcoming Wild Swans author Jung ChangNew York Times Bestseller Simon Winchester, leading Latin American writer Héctor Abad, author of the acclaimed The Dry Jane Harper, eminent poet and playwright Simon Armitage, and lifelong food traveler Joanna Savill. Bringing together the best of Indonesia’s literary and artistic talent, we are also pleased to welcome one of Indonesia’s first feminist writers, literary icon Nh. Dini, one of the nation’s favorite poets, Joko Pinurbo, controversial writer, filmmaker and all-round badass, Djenar Maesa Ayu, and Indonesia’s leading travel writer, Trinity.
