THE OPPORTUNITY:

Indonesia is a high priority country for the UK and definitely for the British Council in East Asia. The British Council Indonesia is about to launch a new and exciting four year programme in the arts and creative industries and we are looking for the right person to lead this for us.

Connect ID is a four year programme aimed at bringing together young talented artists and practitioners from Indonesia and the UK to connect them artistically and professionally and then showcase the results of their collaborations. We have an excellent opportunity for a Director Arts and Creative Industries based in Indonesia to provide strategic and operational leadership for arts and creative industries work there.

We are looking for someone who has extensive experience in building long term arts and creative industries programmes and has a good track record in international cultural exchange. The person must have managed dispersed teams to implement arts programmes and worked with a wide range of sponsors and partners within the arts.  They should have a passion for developing and showcasing the next generation of artists and cultural practitioners and be able to embrace cultural diversity and use this in their work.

The main responsibilities in this role will be:

  • Designing and implementing an Indonesia country focused programme that delivers a step change in the level of cultural collaboration between Indonesia and the UK, contributing to global arts outcomes and regional priorities

  • Leading the Connect ID programme

  • Developing an arts team in Indonesia with the knowledge and skills to effectively deliver our ambitious programme over the coming years

  • Continue to build a network of professional contacts in the arts and creative economies in Indonesia and enhance the high level Ministerial and Official relationships we already have
