Asia Pacific Writers & Translators (APWT) announces its 9th international writers's summit to be held in Guangzhou, China 25-27 November 2016 on the theme 'Ideas & Realities: Creative Writing in Asia Today'. A call for conference panel proposals is open till 4th April.

Join APWT this year in Guangzhou, China, for the 9th international writers' summit, hosted by the Centre for Creative Writing, Sun Yat-Sen University.

Keynotes include Nicholas Jose, Robin Hemley, Qaisra Shahraz, Benjamin Law, and Ravi Shankar. Others you'll meet include Nury Vittachi, Jose Dalisay, and many many others.

If you would like to be included on a panel, write to us with your 150 word bio and your proposal. We welcome proposals on all topics related to writing fiction, creative non fiction, poetry, literary translation and screen writing. We welcome all authors, poets, screenwriters,  translators, literary agents, publishers and teachers of creative writing.

We are looking for discussions that engage the audience. One stream will be academic, another for the non-academic writing community among our members.

N.B. All participants must secure their own funding (airfare, accommodation and conference fee). We try to keep events affordable. We will provide accommodation recommendations soon.

The cost of this year’s conference, including one conference dinner is:

  • Financial APWT members: US$80

  • Non members: US$120

  • Mainland Chinese students/teachers/residents: 100 CNY

  • Accommodation options range from approx. 400CNY (US$60)/night.
