Kraków UNESCO City of Literature - call for applications from writers and translators for the 2022 International Residency Programme. The call is open to applicants with a connection to any of the UNESCO Creative Cities of Literature. 

Selected residents are offered a 2-month stay in the period 1 June to 31 August 2022 at the Villa Decius in Krakow, which also runs the Visegrad Literary Residency and the ICORN residency programme. 

Requirements:

  • A connection with any UNESCO City of Literature
  • At least one published book (fiction or non-fiction), poetry collection, screenplay or theatre script
  • The commitment to work on a literary project during the residency
  • Upper-intermediate level of spoken English
  • Interest in the Central European region
  • Readiness to participate in the literary life of Kraków, including events, meetings, promotional interviews and festivals
  • The commitment to write a text (fiction or non-fiction) that will feature the City of Krakow

What is included?

In addition to a stipend, the Kraków Festival Office will also cover transportation costs to and from Kraków, make connections for residents to participate in the literary life of the city and help to develop opportunities for them to promote their works in Poland.
