Residency for sound artists from Nordic and Baltic regions

The cultural complex SODAS 2123 invites sound artists from Nordic and Baltic regions to apply for a two-month funded artist-in-residency programme in Vilnius, Lithuania.

The SODAS 2123 residency programme seeks artists who use field recordings, autotuned, sung or spoken words, mixed sounds, installations or other sonic interpretations to react to the latest (geo)political, ecological and social issues. They are interested in manifestations of sounds that raise important questions and construct visions of social, cultural and spatial futures.

The programme is open to various sound art formats. Artists with various backgrounds are welcome to apply.

The SODAS 2123 cultural complex is a self-governing community-based space, operated and curated by the Lithuanian Interdisciplinary Artists’ Association. It brings together creators and researchers from different fields, with practices based on experimentation and developing unexpected formats.

By giving the residency programme participants curatorial support, consulting residents about their artistic projects and research, organising studio visits to local artists’ studios, project spaces, exhibitions spaces and other residency centres, the SODAS 2123 residency programme aims to build long-term relations between visiting artists and the local art scene

Residency dates

  • 1 December 2022 to 31 January 2023
  • 1 April 2023 to 31 May 2023

Who can apply?
