Australia | Creative Partnerships with Asia | grants

None

Grants of up to $40,000 are available from the Australia Council for new collaborative projects involving artists from Australia and countries in Asia that result in original contemporary arts projects presented in both countries.

The Australia Council is offering grants of up to $40,000 to support a small number of two-way creative partnerships between artists working in Australia and Asia.

The objective of this initiative is to increase artistic collaborations with Asia which lead to the creation of new work, presentation of this work to audiences in Australia and Asia, and the development of long term networks.

This new initiative facilitates creative exchanges and collaborations between Australian and Asian artists in all artforms, including emerging and experimental arts and any hybrid of these contemporary art-forms.

With the support of this grant, and additional financial and in-kind support, each project must be a collaboration between artists in both countries, and achieve two or more of the following outcomes:

  • Presentation of completed works supported by this initiative in both countries or the presentation of existing new contemporary work that has not yet been presented in both countries;

  • Presentation of final development showings to potential presenting partners in both countries;

  • Delivery of workshops for the purpose of artistic exchange, and development of networks in both countries.

Please note that this initiative will not support works in repertoire, and the touring of existing works.

A presentation can be a publication of new writing, a season of live performance, a visual art exhibition, or the release of a set of recordings.

For the purposes of this initiative Asia includes Japan, China, Korea, India, South and South East Asia.
