China-UK Connections through Culture | development grants

None
13th round of the British Council's China-UK Connections Development Grant is announced. The grant will enable one member of staff from a UK/China arts organisation to visit counterparts in China or the UK between August 2012 and January 2013, with the aim of furthering the face-to-face discussions needed to develop projects between you and your counterparts.

Deadline for applications is Sunday 10 June 2012 for visits taking place between August 2012 and January 2013. Applicants will be notified on Monday 16 July 2012.

Research into the needs of UK organisations embarking on projects with Chinese partners and vice versa demonstrated a desire for access to funding in order to further the face-to-face discussions needed to develop projects beyond initial expressions of interest. To answer this need we are offering a number of small development grants.

Who is eligible to apply?
Any non-profit UK cultural organisation which is a member of Connections through Culture and is in the process of developing an arts project with a CtC registered counterpart in China which will result in an exhibition, performance or public event held in  China demonstrating the best of UK arts and creativity. We expect discussions with the partner to have moved beyond preliminary expressions of interest and the initial research stage. These grants are targeted at organisations rather than individual artists but artist collectives and support organisations may apply. You and your partner need to register on this website and complete an organisational profile in order to apply. If you have not yet registered, please click here. Registered members should complete your organisations’ entry pages at Arts Overview.

Who is not eligible?
Connections through Culture aims to develop institutional links and therefore individual artists are not eligible to apply for a development grant.
Funding bodies and for-profit companies are also ineligible.
Connections through Culture does not support academic links.

What is the development grant for?
The grant will enable one member of staff from your organisation to visit counterparts in China for one or more of the following reasons:
Face-to-face project development with your Chinese partner organisation(s), e.g. contractual negotiations
Seeing and evaluating the work of your Chinese partner organisation(s)
Developing staff skills needed to realise your project through shadowing counterparts in your Chinese partner organisation(s)
Please note you will need to make your own travel, visa and insurance arrangements.
