BEPPU PROJECT is a non-profit art organization based in Beppu, a city in Oita Prefecture in the South of Japan, known as one of the world’s greatest hot spring areas.
Founded in April 2005, Beppu Project has implemented various activities such as the introduction and promotion of art, developing human resources in the sector, national marketing and developing cultural infrastructure. The success of Beppu Contemporary Art Festival 2009, ‘Mixed Bathing World’ has led to the second edition of the international Triennial event, with visual arts and dance projects around the city and environs. The Beppu Art Award 2012 was introduced and artists residencies have been organised.
