Milkwood Artist Residence is dedicated to the international exchange of artists and scholars through residency programs. Situated in South Bohemia, Czech Republic, Milkwood offers residents and guests a fully equipped apartment in the UNESCO-cited village of Cesky Krumlov. In addition to residential space, Milkwood facilitates opportunities for collaborations with local artists, studio space, exhibitions in Czech galleries and museums and development of artist-led courses and events. Its website gives an overview of past projects, developed from the work of resident artists in collaboration with Czech and non-Czech organizations and individuals.
The rate for artist residencies is $496/month, for stays of one month or more, $175/week for less than one-month stays. The minimum stay is two weeks. Rare exceptions to the rate are made for artists or scholars who can show both economic need and excellence in their discipline. An applicant may make a case for sponsorship in his/her application. We expect residents to utilize their time at Milkwood for the work that they have proposed in their applications and, barring unforeseen circumstances, to maintain their residency for the duration of their proposed stay.
