National Library of Cambodia

The National Library of Cambodia was founded in 1924, when most of the books were in French. After independence from France, the library was active and had seen an increase in Khmer language books. It was reopened after the Khmer Rouge regime with assistance from foreign governments. 

The library comprises of many rare collections of palm leaf manuscripts, national documents, and books of various languages and over the years of 1955-1975. Set in a colonial building, it has a huge public place where it holds the successful annual Cambodia Book Fair organised by various literary organisations. The library is managed by the Director of Cultural Publications and Reading of the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts.
