Queensland Theatre Company

 

Queensland Theatre Company is the state’s flagship professional theatre company, established in 1970 by an Act of Parliament. Each year the Company presents an annual main-stage season of plays showcasing an array of acclaimed theatre artists and offering a dynamic mix of plays from exciting new Australian work to outstanding international classics. The company has also launched the Studio Season – plays which push the boundaries of theatre and defy the rules.

The Company is also dedicated to encouraging artistic development across the state through its emerging artists program, writing program which includes the Queensland Premiers Drama Award and regional program. Particular emphasis is placed on developing, inspiring and exciting young people by giving them opportunities to connect with the professional performing arts community in Queensland through specially devised education performances, young playwrights program, theatre residency week, in-school workshops, secondment programs and more.

Queensland Theatre Company (the Company) is a non-profit statutory authority governed by a Board of Directors. The Company is principally supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland and the Major Performing Arts Board of the Australia Council.

Queensland Theatre Company is a member of Live Performance Australia, the peak body for Australias live entertainment and performing arts industry, and as such complies with the LPA Code of Practice for the Ticketing of Live Entertainment Events in Australia.
