Independent Administrative Institution National Museum of Art, Japan The Independent Administrative Institution National Museum of Art is the national institution comprising all of the national art museums in Japan. The aim is the creation and development of arts and culture, and the cultivation of the aesthetic sense among the Japanese. As the hub of art promotion, the organization operates five art museums:
Its mandate is to carry out diverse and distinctive activities while respecting the character of the respective museums.
Collection The collection comprises 40,000 works including paintings, prints, watercolors, drawings, sculptures and photographs. The collection also as 65,600 films.
