National Gallery Singapore

National Gallery Singapore is a leading visual arts institution that engages, excites and inspires with the art of Singapore, Southeast Asia and the world. The Gallery, which will open its doors in November 2015, positions Singapore as an international hub for Southeast Asian visual arts and contributes to Singapore's ambition of becoming a global city for the arts. Occupying two important heritage buildings symbolic of Singapore's nationhood, the City Hall and the former Supreme Court, with a total floor area of approximately 64,000 square metres, National Gallery Singapore will be the largest visual arts institution in Singapore. Reflecting Singapore's unique heritage and geographical location, National Gallery Singapore features Southeast Asian art from Singapore's National Collection, providing a comprehensive survey of the region's artistic developments. The Gallery will also feature international changing exhibitions that present Southeast Asian art in the global context, creating a dialogue between the region and the rest of the world. Permanent collections: The Gallery draws from Singapore's National Collection, which at 10,000 is one of the world's largest public collections of modern and contemporary Southeast Asian artworks. The collection has travelled to international museums and exhibition venues in the Americas, Europe and Asia. The collection's strength lies in its comprehensive representation of Singapore art and its unparalleled holdings of works by major Singapore artists.
