Creative Responses to Sustainability | Green Guide for New Zealand launched!

culture360.ASEF.org is delighted to launch the Aotearoa New Zealand Green Guide, the 11th guide in the Creative Responses to Sustainability series, that explores how arts and cultural initiatives across Asia and Europe are responding to environmental sustainability.

Researched by New Zealand based creative strategist, producer and curator Shea O'Neill, the guide brings together an overview of some of the key ways of working in the Aotearoa context and their challenges, while also presenting examples of innovative environmentally sustainable practices in the arts.

The guide also points to a more uncertain environment for those working in and advocating for both the arts and the environment. Arts organisations are navigating the impact of climate change, growing pressures related to modern development, a recent economic downturn and more.

At the same time, the guide underlines that the arts can sustain spaces of dialogues, imagination and advocacy about environmental sustainability.

What you can expect to find in the guide?

  • Trends and contexts shaping how organisations are working in the area of arts and sustainability in Aotearoa New Zealand
  • Strategies adopted by arts organisations in overcoming sustainability challenges
  • A directory of 15 arts organisations from across the country who are addressing environmental challenges through their creative practices
