Podcast | Culture, Conflict & Mental Health (Part 2)
What does the future hold for activists, cultural and mental health practitioners in conflict zones? Explore what must be changed, preserved as we look towards the future of culture, well-being, conflict and crisis.
This two-part podcast series is commissioned as part of culture360.ASEF.org's Redefining 'Well-being' through Culture open call. Through a series of articles, video interviews and podcasts, we delve into the multidimensional contribution of culture towards good physical health, mental health, individual and societal well-being.
This epsiode follows part 1 of the podcast series jointly produced with culture Solutions, curating an urgent conversation on how culture supports mental health in crisis contexts, through grassroots, community-led and institutional approaches.
In part 2 of this series, host Xhesjana Haxhiu speaks with three guests from Myanmar, the UK, and the US to explore what the current discourses in the culture, conflict and mental health field are, how this has impacted their work over the years and what needs to change moving forward.
The conversation also showcases the existing need and space for deeper Asian-European cooperation among civil societies and cultural practitioners on that matter, aligning with UK and EU efforts to jointly promote a vision of cultural relations. Additionally, looking ahead, what are some policy, institutional and infrastructural shifts that need to happen, to integrate culture into humanitarian mental health responses globally.
