WRECK - List of extinct species is an interdisciplinary performance mixing movement, sound and visual art circling around the metaphor of a shipwreck. A huge soft black plastic sculpture, inflated with air, moves through the space, adopting various forms of power thanks to its massive and imposing yet abstract form. It´s a hunter, swallowing and spitting human beings, akin to Leviathans or the old myths of deep-sea monsters. Simultaneously, it is a metaphor for Capitalism and the human conditions within.

As the community on stage grapples with a huge catastrophe that will produce their own extinction, new and original languages of movement will be born through an atypical approach to choreographic questions utilising different art fields. The artis asks himself, "How can we create movement with inanimate matter and how do we to petrify animated bodies?"

By inverting the relationship between the choir and its landscape, it is possible to write a partition for a soft sculpture. By manipulating this object, geometric forms appear that allow an opportunity for explorations and investigations into the presence of performers on stage, thus putting movement and visual art in dialogue. Bodies are no longer busy with entering and exiting the space, it is rather the space moving, bending and changing its form to reveal or swallow them.

This performance is made to be presented in different spaces: normal stage or site specifics. It also appreciates the presence and participation of local communities, that can be involved in the performance after a short period of rehearsals.

In occasion of the presentation in Singapore, in the framework of Vector#5: Pyschogeographies in collaboration with Dance Nucleus, 5 local contemporary dancers are invited to collaborate in a 20-minute adaptation of Wreck with artist Pietro Marullo. Artists with high level of technical training, improvisation skills and ability to work in a group dynamic are encouraged to participate in this unique artistic exchange. This engagement will entail intensive rehearsals that will take place over 5 days, followed by 2 performances at the outdoor space of Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay.
