European Museum Mediators Conference | Portugal
The final conference of the Museum Mediators project, supported by the European Commission's Lifelong Learning Programme, will take place at the Museu do Traje in São Brás de Alportel, Algarve, Portugal, on 16-17 September 2014.
Over two years, the project has aimed to create training and professional guidelines for museum mediators and educators that represent the institutional and professional needs of museums’ mediation professionals in Europe. To this end it has organised a number of training courses and led to the setting-up of the European Network of Museum Mediators and a related think tank. Project partners include organisations based in Portugal, Spain, Italy and Estonia.
This final conference aims to share the knowledge generated throughout the project, as well as to develop new designs and reflections about the role of museums in society and the contribution of museum mediators.
The conference programme includes the presentation of the project's handbook and results, as well as the related network and think tank. A range of thematic workshops are also foreseen, on issues including digital storytelling, new professional roles in the areas of culture and in museums, project management, etc.
Additional information can be found on the project's website, as well as the related YouTube channel, which includes interviews with project partners and participants.
