India | Sur Jahan 2026
The 13th edition of Sur Jahan, from 23 January to 1 February 2026 in India, is an annual World Peace Music Festival organised by Banglanatak dot com.
Guided by the motto 'Music for Peace, Music for All', the festival has been initiated to bring global music traditions to local audiences and create shared spaces for dialogue and co-creation.
Since 2011, Sur Jajan's hallmark has been its committment to plurality and cultural diversiy. Each edition's curated programme of concerts and interactive workshops allows audiences to experience traditional acoustic instruments, folk vocabularies, and songs performed in diverse mother tongues and vernacular languages – reflecting the true spirit of World Music.
Some highlights of the 2026 edition include:
- A celebration across three locations in India: Kolkata (23–25 January 2026), Bannabagram Baul Ashram (27–28 January 2026) and IIT Kharagpur (31 January–1 February 2026)
- World music bands from Latvia, Denmark, Hungary, Spain, along with the Baul–Fakir musicians of Bengal, urban folk artists from Kolkata and more
