
Entitled "Modern and Contemporary Materials: Research, Treatment, and Practice", the
2019 Annual Conference of the New Zealand Conservators of Cultural Materials Pu Manaaki Kahurangi Incorporated (NZCCM) will be held at the Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū, Christchurch, on 23-25 October.
Over the first 2 days of the conference there will be
a range of speakers from across New Zealand, Australia, and beyond, presenting on modern materials and techniques. They will cover a wide variety of specialisms and there certainly will be something for everyone. Day 3 will provide the opportunity to participate in a
several different conservation and heritage related activities in Christchurch and the surrounding area. A

The keynote speech will be delivered by
Asti Sherring, Time-Based Art Conservator at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Australia. Asti is the first Time-Based Art Conservator to be appointed in Australasia. Her work to address the outstanding and key issues of caring for TBA collections has led to the development of new and inspiring ways of working.
NZCCM is an association of professional conservators of cultural property employed in public museums, art galleries, libraries and in private practice.
