For this webinar, ASEF culture360 is proud to partner with UNESCO Jakarta, to collectively explore the sustainable growth of the traditional performing arts sector in Southeast Asia. The webinar forms part of UNESCO Jakarta's programme series Embracing Shared Heritage through Performing Arts: Intercultural Collaboration Skills Development across Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore. Implemented since July 2025, the programme aims to strengthen intercultural collaboration, professional capacities, and sustainable ecosystems for traditional performing arts in Southeast Asia.
Central to this webinar is the discussion on:
- How traditional practices are created: what are some transformative, new formats for the innovation of traditional performing arts today?
- The conditions which traditional practitioners work, learn and sustain their artforms: how can we contribute to a fairer, more equitable and accessible ecosystem for the traditional performing arts?
Featuring a diverse panel - an academic, performing arts practitioner and organisation from the region - the speakers of this webinar will each deliver a lecture-style presentation focusing on the pathways for traditional practices to thrive and remain accessible for future generations.
