EU–Japan Fest mobility grants 2026

The EU–Japan Fest Japan Committee supports individuals and organisations who want to develop projects between Japan and a European Capital of Culture.

The purpose of the fund is to support travel for research, project planning, and collaboration, building creative networks aimed at realising Japan-Europe arts and culture projects.

Activities can be for projects European Capitals of Culture (past, present or future) as well as other cities that are members of Culture Next. Activities for Japan-Europe collaborative projects can also focus on the following areas: Youth Empowerment; Nature & Green; Diversity (DEI); and Social Regeneration. Activities can be aimed at realising new Japan-Europe projects, which includes collaborations where participants from other regions (e.g., Asia, and other) join Japan-Europe projects.

Applications must be submitted at least 6 weeks prior to the travel date and the travel period can be April 2026 – September 2026 or October 2026 – March 2027.

  • Members of European Capital of Culture teams
  • Artists, project organisers, etc. (including curators, designers, etc.)
  • Others (researchers in culture/arts, social entrepreneurs, etc.)

Support

There is a range of range of financial support provided depending on each applicant and travel category, from 50,000 JPY to 150,000 JPY.
