France | Young Audience Animation Film Residence 2027
FOLIMAGE, an animation studio based in Valence (South of France), is calling for applications from directors from all around the world for their Artist-in-Residence programme, March–December 2027.
The ‘Young Audiences’ Residency is a scheme that gives young authors from all over the world the chance to come and make an animated film lasting around 6 minutes, aimed at the 5-7 age group, made using all animation techniques (except 3D), with a comedic tone.
The Residence is supported by the CNC, the Swiss co-producer Nadasdy Film, the SVOD platform Benshi, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, the cinema distributor Gebeka Films, the Clermont-Ferrand short film festival, the Mèche Courte scheme and the Institut Français.
Since its creation, 11 short films have been produced as part of FOLIMAGE's ‘Young Audiences’ Residence, winning nearly 100 prizes and more than 1,000 official selections.
The residency is supervised by FOLIMAGE's production teams.
After its broadcast on BENSHI, the film will also be included into a national programme distributed in theatres by GEBEKA FILMS and a regional programme distributed by MÈCHE COURTE, and offered to the INSTITUT FRANÇAIS agencies worldwide.
Applicants must submit a project with a real author's point of view, develop original graphics and have already directed one or two short films (including films made in Art Schools). If there are several authors, only the director will come to the residency.
Support
- A flat (studio) in the city of Valence is made available to the beneficiary, just a few minutes' walk from the studios.
- Residents receive a lump sum of 15,000 EUR (rights and salary).
- Travel costs to Valence are also covered.
