m-cult call for collaborative media art projects, Helsinki 2017. The call is open for both international and Finnish artists whose work involves participation/social engagement and media/technology. In 2017, 4-6 new projects will be commissioned. They will be realised during residencies in Helsinki in April-June and August-October.

FOCUS
The focus of the commissions is on art projects that:
* engage with people, communities or institutions in creation of the work
* use media / digital technology in an inventive, collaborative way

We especially welcome socially engaged or public art projects that relate to digital media or technology as tool, platform or concept. We are delighted to receive proposals that are multidisciplinary and combine practices of visual, sound or performing arts.

The main location for the projects produced in 2017 is the Maunula neighbourhood in north Helsinki. More information on Maunula here.

PRODUCTION
As co-producer of the commissioned project, m-cult will support the artist throughout the process and facilitate the work with local groups. The process will be documented by m-cult in collaboration with the artist.

The selected artists receive a fee of 500 € / week (1000 € / 2 weeks). Travel costs and accommodation will be provided for the artists. There is a production budget to cover material and other costs; the scope of the budget will be negotiated with each selected artist. For more information, see Guidelines for proposals.
