India | CARBON Film Festival 2023 from Science Gallery Bengaluru
Science Gallery Bengaluru (India) is calling for films for the hybrid CARBON Film Festival, from 3 to 5 November 2023.
Carbon has been an invisible protagonist on the celluloid screen for a while now. People's lives are saturated with carbon, and the screen reflects its presence everywhere. From a source of livelihood in gritty coal mines to the jackpot in flashy diamond heists, carbon drives action where it appears—in science, in economy and ecology alike.
Science Gallery Bengaluru is looking for completed works across different languages, formats and genres, centred on the theme of their upcoming exhibition season CARBON. The hybrid CARBON Film Festival will have panel discussions, workshops and other public engagement programmes.
Science Gallery Bengaluru seek submissions that examine and interrogate the relationship with carbon – how it drives conflict, inspires action and governs life. They are especially keen on independent films and amateur works that seek to experiment with cinema, science and storytelling.
Science Gallery Bengaluru will pay a screening fee to selected films, but the travel cost of the filmmakers will be covered on a case-by-case basis.
Eligibility
- Completed films that explore the relationship with carbon
- Worldwide submissions from broadcasters, producers, filmmakers, film students, researchers, scientific organisations, NGOs, public organisations, and online channels
- Submissions across formats: Shorts, Documentaries, Features, Animations or Experimental films
