Korea | Art Like Salt Residency Programme and Exhibition

Taepyung Salt Farm and ROWILAB seek artists to submit entries for the juried exhibition, ‘Art Like Salt.’

The Winner(s) of the Year (an individual or group) will have the opportunity to participate in a residency programme for 12 weeks between September and November 2024, or between March and May 2025, in Jeungdo, Shinan, South Jeolla Province, South Korea.

The eligible art formats are photography, video, installation, sculpture, or sound and the theme is ‘Human, All Too Human’.

History tells us, where there is human desire, there is progress in science and technology. Yet technology cannot be developed and survived by technology alone. At this point in time, we have the ability to manipulate and choose the direction of our lives in ways we have never been able to before. What we need now is understand the fundamental question, ‘what is life?'. We must talk again about how we define what we have thus far referred to as nature or providence so that philosophy and art can continue the most human history.

What is provided?

  • A fee of 5,000,000 KRW (before tax)
  • 1,200,000 KRW (before tax) for supplies cost
  • Travel expenses up to 1,200,000 KRW for the winner(s) from Europe and America, and up to 800,000 KRW for the winner(s) from Asia (before tax, the proof of airfare is required)
