Mongolia | Red Corner Nomadic Residency 2026

Red Corner Artist Residency Mongolia invites international artists, writers, curators, and art practitioners to apply for the second edition of ‘A Journey Through Time and Space’, a two-week physical nomadic residency exploring the coexistence of contemporary life and ancient living traditions in Mongolia.

It will take place in Ulaanbaatar, Ikh Gazriin Chuluu (Dundgobi Province), and Erdene Soum (Töv Province). There are two cohorts: 14–27 July and 1–14 August 2026.

The residency includes one week in Ulaanbaatar, with visits to museums, galleries, and artists’ studios; a research trip to Ikh Gazriin Chuluu, a granite formation in the Gobi Desert located 267 km from the capital; and a three-day camping stay with a nomadic family, offering firsthand experience of nomadic life, local food, and natural environments. Participants are encouraged to organise performances, create land art or installations, and engage others during countryside field trips.

The residency is open to international artists in visual art, sound, music, media art, performance, and dance.

This non-profit, self-funded programme is designed for those seeking new experiences, artistic inspiration, and meaningful cultural exchange and there is a participation fee. The residency will provide accomodation and many of the meals.
