Photography and writing residencies in France and Cambodia
The French Institute of Cambodia (IFC) is launching two calls for 2026: ‘Villa Marguerite Duras’ writing residency programme for French writers and a new photography creation residency programme for Cambodian photographers.
Cambodia | Villa Marguerite Duras
With the support of the French Institute as part of La Fabrique des Résidences and the OCIC group, the 2026 edition of the Villa Marguerite Duras programme is dedicated to writing and will host an author residing at the Villa Marguerite Duras (Cambodia) for a stay of 4 to 6 weeks, between 5 May and 28 June 2026.
The applicant must be of French nationality, or resident in France for at least 3 years, and they must have already been published by a publisher.
Financial terms
- A residency grant based on 400 EUR per week
- Travel expenses covered
- Accommodation provided (in Phnom Penh with the possibility of also staying in Siem Reap)
- Commissioning of a text for 800 EUR net
France | Villa Marguerite Duras meets La Villa Perochon
This residency is part of the artistic dialogue between France and Cambodia and aims to support contemporary Cambodian photographic creation on the international stage. The residency is from 3 to 20 April 2026 at Villa Pérochon – Niort (France) and it involves participation in the opening weekend of the Rencontres de la Jeune Photographie Internationale (16–20 April 2026); implementation of cultural activities during the residency; and a final exhibition presented at Villa Pérochon.
This residency is possible due to the partnership with La Villa Perochon, Center for Contemporary Photographic Art in Niort, the Photo Phnom Penh Association, and is supported by Institut français. It
Applicants must be of Cambodian nationality, have a good command of French or English, and have already completed at least one solo exhibition.

- Accommodation at Fort Foucault in Niort
- On-site meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner)
- Production of the final exhibition
