Residency for German film professionals in India, France or Greece

The Berlin Artist-in-Residency (BERLIN AiR) offers selected filmmakers the opportunity to gain international experience and forge industry contacts, bringing together young artists from Berlin-Brandenburg and partner countries.

They have strands open to German film professionals to stay in Mumbai (India), Paris (France), or Thessaloniki (Greece) for 3 months in late 2026.

Eligibility

  • German film professionals (primarily directors and scriptwriters) with a proven professional background in film and television
  • Permanent residents of Germany
  • Applicants must have completed or worked on at least one film of a minimum of 30 min. in any genre or format
  • The completed film must have been supported by a film fund, a professionally recognised body or organisation, or have been commissioned by a broadcaster

- OR -

  • The film must have won local and international recognition, acclaim and prizes

The programme covers:

  • transportation (Economy Airline Ticket)
  • housing for three months (for Paris this is in the Cité des Arts – 550 EUR per month, to be paid by the participant)
  • monthly allowance equivalent to 1,200 EUR (Mumbai), 800 EUR (Thessaloniki) or 1,500 EUR (Paris)
