Wales–China Arts Travel Grants 2026

The British Council is calling for applications from representatives from arts organisations based in Wales for their Wales–China Arts Travel Grants 2026.

The grants will allow representatives of arts organisations based in Wales to travel to mainland China in 2026, to gain a better understanding of the cultural landscape and build their capability to engage with Chinese partners, make connections and lay the groundwork for future collaboration. This will support cultural development and, in turn, deliver economic and social benefits in China.

Eligibility

Representatives from arts organisations based in Wales are eligible to apply. The representative does not need to be a staff member of the organisation, but the organisation will need to verify that they are in a position to represent the organisation.

The arts organisations in Wales must be active and work in the cultural and/or creative sector(s) within any of the following art forms:

  • Film
  • Creative technology (incl. games, immersive, mixed, augmented, and virtual reality)
  • Literature
  • Visual Arts
  • Theatre and dance (including circus)
  • Architecture, design & fashion (including craft)
  • Music

They also welcome proposals from organisations who work on:

  • Cross-art form projects
  • Projects with themes relevant to the creative economy
  • Cross-disciplinary art projects (e.g., art + science, art + technology)

Support

Grants will be offered of up to 3,000 GBP. Each organisation is only eligible to receive one grant per year and the British Council anticipates that they will be able to offer around five grants in total.
