Ethnictro Foundation

Ethnictro Foundation is an independent institution that was formed in 2008 as one of the creative spaces in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, as a means of expression, education, as well as collaborative and cross-disciplinary practices, especially for music and sound. Facilitating ideas, workshops, study visits, and performances for a wide audience with programs that focus on community guidance and outreach efforts. Create participatory projects that aim to attract new audiences, and provide opportunities to engage and join in shared experiences, explore new materials, techniques and ideas.

Their programmes are funded through regular music courses, selling souvenirs, making video clips, and funding from members who are then able to provide support in the form of workspaces or studios, equipment, production, residencies, and other support to artists, musicians, sound practitioners, art educators and others.

Ethnictro Foundation's mission is to support art, music and sound practices as sources of inspiration, providing support and creative teaching and learning experiences for all ages, abilities and backgrounds. They aim to expand and develop inspirational resources in alternative environments and spaces so that music can live in various circles and places as extraordinary characters.

Ethnictro has an artist-in-residence programme, grants and resources, and frequently makes school visits.
