Three
projects from a pool of 117 proposals have been selected for support in 2015 through the fourth edition of Creative Encounters:

  • Circus OnThe Edge is a training of trainers and public performances in circus arts with a strong community engagement in Thailand. The project aims to strengthen the applied performance practices, specifically in integrating circus and theatre with local cultural action and to create a process of artistic and cultural exchange that will have impact at multiple levels. Project partners include Makhampom Foundation (Thailand) and Circusschule Die Rotznasen e.V. (Germany).

  • Curating – In – Depth is a series of lectures and workshops on contemporary curatorial practice for emerging artists, critics and curators, with visual arts exhibitions in Slovenia and the Philippines. The project also aims to strengthen Asia-Europe non-governmental institutional collaborations and to confront evident challenges in the still neglected field of curating and mediating the arts. Project partners include SCCA, Center for Contemporary Arts – Ljubljana (Slovenia) and Planting Rice (Philippines).

  • Dance Connect 2015 is a mentoring of emerging choreographers through artists’ residencies and commissioning of new pieces and touring. By linking and combining the strengths and reach of the partnering organisations, their networks and constituencies, this partnership has a potential to make platforms more visible, vibrant and interconnected. Project partners include Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts (India), O Espaco Do Tempo (Portugal), Mercat De Les Flors (Spain) and European Dancehouse Network (Spain).
