Analysing Significance: how to determine the value of museum objects

ICOM Finland and the Finnish Museum Association have recently published the English version of the report Analysing Significance, previously available in Finnish. The publication, written by museum professionals Heikki Häyhä, Sari Jantunen and Leena Paaskosk, presents the method of "Analysing Significance", which is used to determine the significance of museum objects as well as to highlight the value of a museum’s collections. The method was developed for Finnish museums to be used when determining the significance, meanings and value of museum objects and collections, and initially published by the Finnish Museum Association. ICOM Finland deemed the publication and the method to be of interest to the larger museum community and decided to translate it to English. The publication is available as a free download from https://www.museoliitto.fi/doc/verkkojulkaisut/AnalysingSignificance.pdf
