None sli_2_20160902125534 Art Stage Singapore, the flagship art fair of Southeast Asia, kicks off the international art season every January with the very best of Asian contemporary art, running 12-15 January 2017. Art Stage Singapore 2017 will present the second Southeast Asia Forum, which will focus on the theme of capitalism, titled Net Present Value: Art, Capital, Futures. Art Stage Singapore is the leading Asian art fair connecting the world to the best of Asian contemporary art. With a deep understanding of Asia’s dynamic visual arts scene, Art Stage Singapore presents the diversity of contemporary art rising from the region. At the crossroads among Southeast Asia, China, India, the Middle East, Australia and New Zealand, Art Stage Singapore is also the catalyst for igniting heightened market activity in the the entire Southeast Asia region, attracting the world’s most influential private art collectors, corporate buyers and VIPs. Southeast Asia Forum ‘Net Present Value’ is a method commonly used to forecast the profitability of future returns on investments made today. Simply put, it is a future value expressed in today’s terms. The second Southeast Asia Forum seeks to explore the values of art, imagination and progress, and, the price of doing business as usual in the global capitalist system. It examines relationships between money, ideals and some of the fault lines in the present financial age, including the Forum’s immediate sphere of influence — the art market and the value of art. In creating encounters between thinkers, actors and influencers, the Forum seeks to bring about more inter-disciplinary understanding and collaboration in re-imagining conditions and ideals for social inclusion in the 21st-century global society. With a special focus on Southeast Asian art scenes (Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar), Art Stage Singapore presents the largest international showcases of Southeast Asian contemporary art to date. Art Stage Singapore is not only the ‘agora’ or forum for the galleries and collectors but also the rendezvous point for collectors, artists, curators and gallerists.
