Arts and Disability Policies: References Welcome
The Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) has recently commissioned a research report on innovative and enabling policy measures and case studies in the area of arts and disability. The research, conducted between September and October 2016, covers developments in the 51 countries of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM).
The resulting report will be presented in the context of the 16th Informal ASEM Seminar on Human Rights (November 2016) and will also be published on ASEF culture360.org.
Relevant policies, programmes and projects, initiated by public, private or non-profit organisations, may address the following areas:
- Accessibility of cultural activities, facilities and resources for people with any kind of disability, e.g. accessible signage, audio descriptions, ramps, etc.
- Promotion of the active involvement of people with any kind of disability in arts creativity, production and presentation of creative works, e.g. integrated dance or theatre companies, arts training for people with disabilities, etc.
- Other legislation, policies or measures relevant to the field of arts and disability.
In the context of the research, we invite you to submit relevant examples or references in these areas. Research reports, websites and other sources of information will be welcome.
The report is being conducted by researcher Jordi Baltà. Information and questions related to the report should be sent to him at artsdisabilityASEF@gmail.com
