Arts and Human Rights programme in Mongolia
In December the Arts Council of Mongolia (ACM) organized an Arts and Human Rights presentation and talk at ACM's Red Ger gallery. The talk aimed to increase public awareness of human right and social inequality through the arts and bring together different opinion makers, artists and human rights specialists to discuss selected topics.
For the event, ACM invited around 30 visual arts, media, photo artists, human right specialists and the general public to share their opinion and experience.
In the First part of the talk, several short presentations were presented by specialists. The "Arts & Human Rights" presentation was made by Naranjargal Kh., Chair of Globe International NGO, "Every step is hurdle" short film by Globe International NGO, "Dream" short film by Khoroldorj Ch., film director of the 'Best short film' award from the 2010 "48 HOURS" film festival; and 'Social injustice' art exhibition by Lkhagvadorj E. a young emerging artist.
After the presentations, invitees held a discussion on human right and social inequality with 7 panelists, comprised of Ts.Ariunaa, Executive director of ACM, film directors D.Turmunkh, J.Sengedorj and Ch.Khoroldorj, Kh.Naranjargal, Glob International NGO, B.Oyunchimeg, producer and journalist of MNB and E.lkhagvadorj, young artist. During the talk, both panelists and participants enhanced their understanding of the importance of arts to strongly express social issues and challenges.
