ASEF culture360 supports FutureEverything 2016 | Manchester, UK
ASEF culture360 will support the FutureEverything 2016 - Less is More Festival, in Manchester, United Kingdom on 30 March to 2 April 2016.
For twenty years, FutureEverything has looked at big questions facing society through the lens of art and digital culture. Working to the theme of ‘Less and More’, FutureEverything 2016 explores how we can rethink resources within a world that is changing exponentially. Whether it’s a change to our antibiotics and food, or the world’s natural resources, the first thing that we look for is alternatives. With the carbon economy reaching its peak, we need to adapt to changes in climate, and find more tools, and more methods as a way of working with the inevitable. This forces a rethink on how we can gather, and manage, the resources of Earth to overcome the dependencies of the industrial age.
The programme of the Festival will include a Conference with among others 2015 Turner Prize winning architecture collective Assemble (Mathew Leung), designer Stefanie Posavec, curator Hannah Redler and cellular agriculturalist for New Harvest Abi Aspen Glencross; an evening programme with live music and performance as well as a number of commissioned projects and installations open to the public around the theme of the Festival.
ASEF culture360 latest publications Creative Responses to Sustainability - Singapore Guide and Korea Guide will be widely disseminated during the event. Both guides are part of a new series of guides looking at creative responses to sustainability in different countries in Asia. They both feature a directory of the 20 most pioneering and significant cultural organisations contributing to social and environmental change through their artistic practice and their respective countries.
