ASEF LinkUp | Asia-Europe Cultural Diplomacy Lab | 2025 Edition in Indonesia

ASEF, in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Culture of Indonesia, with the support of the Yogyakarta Royal Palace, Regional Government of the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Sonobudoyo Museum, ArtJog Festival and UNESCO Jakarta, are co-organising the third edition of ASEF LinkUp | Asia-Europe Cultural Diplomacy Lab, in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, from 18 to 21 June 2025.

ASEF LinkUp 2025: "Rethinking Cultural Diplomacy Together"

This year's ASEF LinkUp will bring together 20 selected participants from the arts and cultural sector and governmental and institutional representatives working on international cultural cooperation from Asia and Europe for 4 days of exchanges, site visits and dialogues on the intersection of collective responsibility and cultural diplomacy.

Inspired by "gotong royong", the Indonesian ethos of cooperation and mutual support, this year's theme "Rethinking Cultural Diplomacy Together" builds on recommendations from the second edition of ASEF LinkUp. It will focus on the importance of shared efforts, inclusive partnerships and participation in cultural diplomacy.

What is ASEF LinkUp?

Launched in 2023, ASEF LinkUp | Asia-Europe Cultural Diplomacy Lab brings the arts and cultural sector and governmental and institutional representatives working on international cultural cooperation closer by enabling common spaces for knowledge exchange, intercultural learning and cultural collaboration.

Through ASEF LinkUp, ASEF aims to create a long-term community of professionals involved in cultural cooperation, offering a safe space for meaningful conversations and networking opportunities, with the ultimate aim of advocating alternative understanding of cultural diplomacy and new forms of cultural relations.

All participants for this programme are co-selected by the organisers and are by invitation only.
