ASEF supports training and exchange programme in circus arts in Thailand
Selected through the 4th edition of Creative Encounters: Cultural Partnerships between Asia and Europe, Circus On The Edge involves training and exchange programme in circus arts to empower local communities in northern Thailand and strengthening social circus links between Asia and Europe. Between September and December 2015, a number of workshops for local communities in 3 villages in Chiang Mai & Chiang Rai districts in Northern Thailand have been set up, followed by public performances in the villages and by tours in neighbouring villages. The Hmong Lerxeng Circus Group worked with the Phu Chi Fa Community on the history of the Hmong community and in particular the youngest generations. Pang Daeng Youth Circus Troupe worked with the Pang Dang Nok Community and the La Ter Poh Youth Group perfomed in the Pa Teung Ngam Community the Pkageyaw tale. On 16 November 2015, all the participating artists will come together for a final performance showcase and Train-the-Trainer programme at Makhampom Art Space, Chiang Dao, Chiang Mai District, Thailand.
