ASEF supports Young Cultural Innovators from the Mekong Region
The Greater-Mekong Hub for Cultural Changemakers promotes emerging creative entrepreneurs and young arts leaders from the Mekong region. The project was selected in 2016 through the ASEF Creative Networks programme from among 22 proposals. From 11 to 16 October 2016, in Salzburg, Austria, 4 Young Cultural Innovators (YCI) selected through the project will participate in the Salzburg Global Forum for Young Cultural Innovators, one of the most prestigious platforms for cultural leadership training worldwide. The 4 selected YCI are Ms Lomorpich RITHY (Cambodia), Mr YENG Chheangly (Cambodia), Ms Arlette Quynh-Anh TRAN (Viet Nam) and Mr Anouza PHOTISANE representing both Viet Nam and the Lao PDR.
These 4 innovators were selected by the 2 partner organisations, Cambodian Living Arts and Salzburg Global Seminar, as they are dynamic cultural leaders committed to the arts in the countries and communities they represent. Travelling to Salzburg to attend such a prestigious international Forum will be an invaluable opportunity for them to serve as Cultural Ambassadors for their home countries in Europe, collaborating with and learning from their colleagues and peers from around the world.
As part of the project, Cambodia Living Arts has also organised 4 Fellows Labs in Cambodia between July and December for the 4 selected Young Cultural Innovators to meet with selected Mentors. These highly regarded Mentors and cultural leaders are essential in providing critical insight and guidance to the Fellows as they go through this programme. The Fellows will also be part of a cultural exchange programme with arts organisations from Viet Nam. A report of their Fellowship year will be presented in January 2017.
Greater-Mekong Hub for Cultural Changemakers is supported by ASEF through the ASEF Creative Networks programme. Project partners include: Cambodia Living Arts (Cambodia) and Salzburg Global Seminar (Austria).
