Barcelona | CULTUROPOLIS conference on cultural rights
From 16 to 19 November 2022, the City of Barcelona will organise the CULTUROPOLIS Conference, a meeting space for reflecting on and discussing cultural rights.
CULTUROPOLIS includes speeches and debates, project presentations and best practices, an academic conference space and artistic and community programming. All of the activities that form part of the sessions are linked to at least one of the following lines of work:
- Cultural work and sustainability
- Diversity
- Participation and communities
- Digital environments
The sessions are open to everyone. Participation is free, although prior booking is required. Registration gives access to all the scheduled activities. CULTUROPOLIS is open to local and international cultural agents and to all citizens of Barcelona.
About the initiative
In 2021, Barcelona City Council presented “Fem Cultura. Plan For Cultural Rights in Barcelona”: a plan that includes nine government measures for implementing new public policies that seek to recognise and expand cultural rights in the city.
In this context, Barcelona City Council is promoting the first International Days on Cultural Rights—CULTUROPOLIS, which is being co-organised with Culture Action Europe, the largest European network of cultural networks, organisations, artists, activists, academics and policy makers, and is supported by the United Cities and Local Governments Organisation (UCLG).
