Belgium | Ars Musica Festival - focus on Japan

Ars Musica Festival honours Japan for its biennial, on the theme 'The Land of the Rising Sound'. The festival of new and contemporary music takes place in Brussels and elsewhere in Belgium from 12-27 November 2016. On Saturday 12 November, a musical conference takes place on Japanese music today. Kanako Abe, pianist, orchestra chief, composer and musicologist, sketches the history of Japanese music from the start of the 19th century to the present day. Take a look at the full programme. Concerts pay homage to historical composers such as Toru Takemistu or Maki Ishii, alongside giving respect to young musical creators such as Daï Fujikura, Kenji Sakai, Tomoko Sauvage, Reison Kuroda.
