First of its kind in dance in the German-speaking world, the conference is held against the background of a successive dissolution of branches of art and increasingly hybrid artistic forms of expression. It seeks to bring together artists, curators and theoreticians in areas of performing and visual arts. The conference is 11th in the Explorationen professional development series, developing the Tanzplan (Dance Plan) Essen. The conference will explore new ways in which art can be made publicly visible and also identify examples of particularly successful curatorial strategies and approaches. Speakers include Ong Keng Sen (artist, curator: Singapore, TheatreWorks), Shuddhabrata Sengupta (Raqs Media Collective, India), Nayse Lopez (cultural journalist, Rio de Janeiro), Marysia Lewandowska (artist, London & profession at Konstfakt Stockholm), Tim Etchells (artist, writer, theatre director, UK) and many other contributors from Europe.
