Brussels | Monsoon | Indian + European dance artist performances
In Brussels, choreographer and dancer Arco Renz further develops the MONSOON transcultural, multidisciplinary platform for exchanges between Asian and European artists through an artistic exchange between Indian and European artists. During an intense week, four emerging artists from India meet with 4 emerging artists from Europe in Bozar. In a one-to-one encounter, they explore the (im-)possibility of collaboration, by reflection on a common central theme. This theme will be ‘The Body’ inspired by the main exhibition ‘The Body in Indian art’ held at Bozar during the same time in the framework of Europalia. The artists in question develop fascinating ideas and creative processes relating to the body in India and Europe. In one and the same globalised world, the two cultures have totally different outlooks on the body, corporality, the mind-body-self relationship, etc. The artists have one week to investigate similarities, differences, and sources of inspiration. This is followed by a public presentation of this cooperative process.The Monsoon 2013 program includes the following public events:
- Performances by the four Indian artists – Sat, 30.11.2013 at 20:00;
- Performance of work-in-progress created during the Monsoon 2013 encounters – Sat, 7.12.2013 at 19:00
