Brussels | World Poetry Slam Championship 2022
The World Poetry Slam Organisation is holding their first World Poetry Slam Championship in Brussels, 27–29 September 2022.
There are 40 champions from 37 countries around the world invited, including from Belgium, Spain, Italy, Ireland, Croatia, Slovenia, Cyprus, France, Hungary, Poland, Austria, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.
Apart from the championship itself, the championship also has a satellite programme of diverse activities, collaborating with Brussels-based artists and organisations. Side activities include documentary screenings, a theatre play, demo competitions, slam workshops, open mics every night, an LGBTQI+ oriented spoken word show and more.
One such programme is the video + poetry section, which is calling for video poetry and spoken word works from around the world to showcase in the festival (and online until December 2022). A total of 20 works will be selected.
Works, including poetry films, filmpoems, digital-poetry, poetry video, spoken word films, visual poetry, choreopoems, poetrinca, media poetry, and all films and videos that are driven visually by text or voice, can be submitted until 31 August 2022.
