In the context of the General Conference of the International Council of Museums (ICOM), held in Milan, Italy, on 3-9 July, its International Committee for Education and Cultural Action (CECA) held a session involving the winners of the latest edition of its annual Best Practice contest, which recognises relevant examples of museum education and cultural programmes. Winners of the CECA Best Practice Award in 2016 were as follows:

• the National Museum of Singapore, an ASEMUS member, with the project "Singapore's Little Treasures";
• Musée d'Orsay, Paris, with the project "Orsay facile";
• Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Denmark, thanks to the project "Travelling with Art: Learning Program for Refugee Children";
• Komitas Museum-Institute, Yerevan, Armenia, with the project "Lullabies Singing Workshop"; and
• the Moto Moto Museum, Mbala, Zambia, with the "Documentation of local languages through local church music".

Participation in the annual Best Practice award is open only to CECA members. A selection of the projects submitted, including both awardees and up to 15 other projects, will be presented in the next volume of CECA's "Best Practice" series of publications. The exchange of experiences in this area is further facilitated by the recent publication of a document entitled "Best practices in museum education and cultural programmes: planning, developing and evaluating a programme", prepared by Marie-Clarté O'Neill and Colette Dufresne-Tassé. Its foreword presents it as a practical tool to assist and focus the planning, development and evaluation of education and cultural programmes, supporting professionals, students, volunteers and evaluators in identifying and analysing all aspects of their projects. Furthermore, CECA has explained that aims of its best practice programme include to build a common language among its members, to make local programmes more easily comparable and give them visibility and to enable discussion among members.
